RN Virtual Acute OB Unit

Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Virtual Acute OB Unit RN provides remote monitoring and digital oversight for laboring mothers, focusing on contractions and fetal heart rate assessment. This role requires close collaboration with the in-person healthcare team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. Utilizing critical thinking, evidence-based practices, and clinical decision support, the RN delivers care to a diverse patient population across OSF through advanced technology in various healthcare settings. The RN actively communicates with care team members to enhance care quality, serves as a patient advocate, and provides guidance to fellow healthcare professionals. Demonstrating service excellence and accountability, the RN recognizes the importance of cost-effective, efficient care delivery and its impact on patient access and outcomes. Additionally, this team provides virtual support to pregnant and postpartum mothers through the OnCall Connect OB department, offering comprehensive symptom assessment, patient education, preventative care, acute psychosocial support, and developmentally appropriate care tailored to individual patient needs. *Note: this is not a remote-working it would require working on-site at OSF Digital OnCall. Flexible Schedule: Mission Partners will self-schedule. which allows for greater work-life-balance State-of-the-Art Technology: We are utilize PeriGen/Peri watch vigilance technology to operate a hub that allows our team to see all the laboring patients at one time. This model of care is evidence-based and has been shown to improve infant and maternal outcomes. Patient-Focused Care: We like to call this role "an angel on your shoulder." It allows our Virtual Nurses to be a second set of eyes for the front-line nurses. Virtual Nurses will help monitor the fetal monitoring strip and collaborate on the patient's care plan. In addition, it allows the front line nurses to feel supported if they are away from the bedside. Someone is always watching the strip. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate degree in nursing Experience: 5 years L&D Experience or 3 years of L&D Experience + Advanced EFM Course Completion Licensure/ Certification: RN licensure in IL required before hire, Michigan License required within 6 months of hire. Must successfully complete Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) course when assigned by manager and maintain proof of certification thereafter. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
